ABSTRACT: This study investigated the role of early childhood education in preventing childhood obesity. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of physical activities on preventing obesity, (2) assess the role of nutrition education in promoting healthy eating habits, and (3) determine the effectiveness of early intervention programs in reducing obesity rates. A survey design was chosen to collect data from educators and parents about children's physical activity levels, dietary habits, and obesity rates. A sample size of 150 preschool educators and parents was selected through purposive sampling. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers in Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that regular physical activities and nutrition education in early childhood programs significantly prevented obesity, promoting healthy eating habits and reducing obesity rates. It was recommended that early childhood education programs include comprehensive physical and nutrition education and that educators receive training to effectively implement these initiatives to prevent childhood obesity.
